Seller: Top-Rated Seller *riven.g* (11,007) 99.7%, Location: United Kingdom., Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 253990533176 Up for auction here is an absolutely stunning SPITFIRE BOMBER WWII AIRCRAFT, which is crafted down to the very finest and most intricate detail. This historical Aircraft is handmade from finest quality glass, which has then been gilded in 24Kt Gold and also has camouflaged markings on its wings too in this stunningly accurate reminder of days gone by. The main body of the Aircraft includes the Pilot station at the near centre of the craft, and then, moving backwards down the SPITFIRE we can see the Rudder Tab, Aerial Mast, and, running between the 2, the Aerial, and at the very back the rear Tail-Wheel, whilst each wing has machine guns on each giving the noted configuration of this iconic craft and to complete this remarkably lifelike reconstruction of this. This beautifully crafted piece has then been superbly fitted inside an equally stunning handmade glass decanter, and is affixed to the base of this decanter by a long adjoined connecting stand and also has a fitted stopper in the neck complete with matched circular design, which is again brilliant in thought and design. The final piece of this item is the premium quality wooden fitted base which comes complete for the decanter to stand in, and this is made of darkened wood complete with felted interior for the decanter to sit upon and then has a brass nameplate affixed to confirm this is indeed THE SPITFIRE BOMBER. As if all of this workmanship is not enough, the item also comes in quality packing, meaning it could actually be given as a lovely gift without any further wrapping needed. I also have other handmade Aeroplane Items from this stunning range which I truly believe are some of the best quality that I have ever seen; the quality is so good, which I will be listing as soon as possible, as well as other high-quality glass giftware, and all at great prices considering the craftsmanship and detail involved. I have tried to show this item from all angles, but if you would like any further pictures, please just ask, and I will be happy to help. These are ideal as a gift for collectors of Military, WWII or RAF memorabilia, and can be displayed literally almost anywhere at all; even on a window sill, porch, bookcase or shelf, or anywhere else it can be proudly shown off, or it is also suitable for collectors and glass enthusiasts, and are guaranteed to be every bit as good as the pictures show. This gorgeous item is around 8 inches high to the top of the stopper, the decanter globe is approximately 4 inches in diameter, whilst the base is 3.75 inches in diameter at the bottom and roughly 2.25 inches inside diameter where the base of the decanter sits in, meaning this is a good sized item. Please feel free to e mail me if you have any queries, and, if you do decide to bid, good luck. I THOUGHT IT PERTINENT TO ADD SOME VERY IMPORTANT HISTORICAL INFORMATION REGARDING THIS ICONIC SYMBOL OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR................. Spitfire, also called Supermarine Spitfire, the most widely produced and strategically important British single-seat fighter of World War II. The Spitfire, renowned for winning victory laurels in the Battle of Britain (1940–41) along with the Hawker Hurricane, served in every theatre of the war and was produced in more variants than any other British aircraft. The Spitfire first flew in March 1935. It had superb performance and flight characteristics, and deliveries to operational Royal Air Force (RAF) squadrons commenced in the summer of 1938. A more radical design than the Hurricane, the Spitfire had a stressed-skin aluminum structure and a graceful elliptical wing with a thin airfoil that, in combination with the Merlin’s efficient two-stage supercharger, gave it exceptional performance at high altitudes. The version of the Spitfire that fought in the Battle of Britain was powered by a Merlin engine of 1,030 horsepower. The plane had a wingspan of 36 feet 10 inches (11.2 metres), was 29 feet 11 inches (9.1 metres) long, and reached a maximum speed of 360 miles (580 km) per hour and a ceiling of 34,000 feet (10,400 metres). Faster than its formidable German opponent the Bf 109 at altitudes above 15,000 feet (4,600 metres) and just as maneuverable, Spitfires were sent by preference to engage German fighters while the slower Hurricanes went for the bombers. More Hurricanes than Spitfires served in the Battle of Britain, and they were credited with more “kills,” but it can be argued that the Spitfire’s superior high-altitude performance provided the margin of victory..
